Breeze Translate is based on AI technology. We take a pragmatic approach to provide a useful tool for as many churches as possible. If you have any specific questions, please reach out!

We don't have a sound desk. Can I still use Breeze Translate?

Yes! Breeze Translate only requires an audio output from your church service. A phone on a lectern or an audio output from a clip mic will work.

We don't have good WiFi where our church meets. Can I still use it?

Breeze Translate needs an internet connection both ways. To upload (from your church to Breeze), the bandwidth needed is similar to streaming music for the same duration; much less than live video streaming your church service. A 2-hour church service requires a moderate connection. For people receiving translations, the internet requirement is minimal. A 2-hour transcript is about 8,000 words, which is equivalent to downloading a few web pages.

Does this work with sung worship?

The short answer is 'no' — at least, not very well! Translating songs is much more complex, with rhythm and rhyme requirements on top of the meaning, which is often conveyed through cultural imagery which may itself not translate very well. We do know churches who have had some success with Breeze Translate by isolating the vocal feed, but the resulting translation isn't guaranteed to fit the original melody very well!

How reliable is automated translation? Can you trust its accuracy?

This is a great question! While automated translation may not always be perfect, it greatly enhances accessibility. For most churches, Breeze allows people to go from not understanding the service to engaging with most of it.

Our preachers love to use complicated language. Will Breeze Translate cope?

Yes! Modern translation technology is designed to handle intricate language with ease. Our advice is always to give the service the best possible audio feed to help with a quality transcription.

How does the free trial work?

You can try Breeze Translate for 2 weeks. After the trial, pricing starts at £6 per week.

How long are streams on Breeze Translate?

Streams are currently limited to 2 hours to prevent accidental overuse. If your plan allows, you can always start it again after this time.

How is this different from Google Translate?

Breeze Translate uses your main audio output, ensuring higher-quality audio, feeding into a dedicated transcription service, leading to more accurate translation. Our web app makes it simple for people to access translations with just two taps, without using much mobile data.

Isn't it distracting to have people on their phones?

Many people already use their phones in church for note-taking or Bible apps. In any church community, you'll quickly recognize who is using live translation to follow along.

Do you offer audio output or text-to-speech?

We offer text-to-speech that runs on your device, which works well on Android with over 100 languages supported. However, our primary focus is on captions, which allow people to read translations while listening to the original speaker's emotion and tone.
